Stoked
It's a big, big weekend here at CDMHQ. The rehabilitation of the coolpool is finally complete, and the coolfamily can finally get some (leisure) pool time. This morning, CoolDaughter #1 had her final swim practice of the long-course season, meaning that competitive swimming is on a break until September. So stoked. There are plenty of other things to be stoked about as well this coming weekend.
On Thursday night, The Spill Canvas come to House of Independents with Punchline, Selfish Things, and Your Persona. The Smashing Pumpkins are at PNC with Metric. Glassjaw & Quicksand bring their co-headlining tour to Montclair's Wellmont Theatre with Primitive Weapons.
Stoked for the Summer Weekend gets started on Friday night when Paint It Black play House of Independents with Screaming Females, GIVE, The HIRS collective, and Bacchae. Ernest, Cicada Radio, and The Burst & Bloom play the brewery. ManDancing and Shark Club are at APYC. Accidental Seabirds, The Porchistas, and Emily Grove are over at Langosta Lounge. The New Lanes hosts a double release show for The Burns and Levy and The Oaks. That one also features Avery and The Man Devils, Black Suburbia, and Rachel Ana Dobken (who's running an IndieGoGo campaign to fund the release of her upcoming album.). Culture Club play a sold-out Summer Stage with Thompson Twins. The Ratchets are at Volume IV with School Drugs, D'Arcy, and Stag Party. Steve Forbert plays Wonder Bar.
On Saturday night, Chris Harford's Band of Changes hit Langosta. Lowlight play with Ramblin' Deano at Old Franklin Schoolhouse in Metuchen. Stoked for the Summer happens on The Summer Stage when The Bouncig Souls are joined by Against Me!, Titus Andronicus, Smoking Popes, and Tim Barry. There's a free after-party for that one at Wonder Bar that features The Ratchets and The Battery Electric.
The Ratchets continue their weekend tour on Sunday with a show at NYC's Bowery Electric with Citizens Arrest, Headlines, Nervous Triggers, and Hatrabbits. Trenton's Millhill Basement hosts Shizune, SICK SHIT, Massa Nera, Lytic, and Worst Days. The Rubinoos play Monty Hall in JC. Dion is at Asbury's Paramount. The Stone Pony Summer Stage has Rise Against, AFI, and Anti-Flag. The Alarm play Wonder Bar.
