New Bob Mould-Produced Album Coming from Titus Andronicus on 6/21. Check Out Single, "(I Blame) Society."

An Obelisk

This is a personal blog, not a music news site. I post over and over here about bands that I personally love. Sometimes, that fanboy posting coincides with actual news.

Our friends and faves, Titus Andronicus, announced today that they'd be releasing a new album this upcoming summer solstice, June 21st. An Obelisk will be the band's sixth studio album and third for Merge Records. It will arrive a year and a little bit following 2018's A Productive Cough.

Oh. And Bob Mould produced it. So, yeah.

While A Productive Cough focused on some of the more mellow, classic rock or Americana-inspired tendencies of Titus Andronicus, it would appear -- judging from the tracklisting, anyway -- that An Obelisk will be heavy on the rocking. The band presented a few of these songs during live performances last year as covers of an early 80s, UK punk band, The Blazin' Lazers. One of them, "Tumult Around the World" made appearances during the band's TMLT Around the World Tour in support of The Most Lamentable Tragedy. Another, "(I Blame) Society," is the album's first single which you can check out below.
