At Maxwell's the other night, Patrick Stickles brought a fan up on stage. He introduced her and showed the crowd that she had an "Escape from No Future" tattoo. Much to this fan's delight, before launching into "No Future Part 3: Escape from No Future" in her honor, Stickles said that -- while he in no way endorsed or encouraged this behavior -- any fan showing a Titus Andronicus-related tattoo would gain admission to any and all Titus Andronicus shows for as long as the band remains a going concern.
Unfortunately for CoolDad Music reader, Joe, Asbury Park's Fastlane is in no position to make a similar offer. The club has been closed for some years now, and the building that housed it is making way for a lovely new outdoor space at Asbury Lanes. Joe, you see, has an extremely cool tattoo featuring the old Fastlane logo that once adorned the circle above the door.
Joe was able to acquire this tattoo with the help of 90.5 The Night DJ Jeff Raspe who had a digital photo on one of his hard drives.
If anyone reading this has any further information on the background of that logo -- who designed it, who painted it -- let me know, and I'll be sure to pass on the info.
