Mini Rant
Does anyone else get tired of being sold to every minute of every, single day? I've been thinking about that question for a while, but the Grammys really brought it home for me last night. "Who are you wearing, and can you tell us a little about what you've been working on with the people from Degree antiperspirant?" All the awards shows really, the Super Bowl, shows like Glee or American Idol with their "if you'd like to download the music you just heard..." Was America always like this or is it a new thing that we're all just so desensitized to a world in which every word we hear or read is some kind of sales pitch?
I don't know. I get that people have to make a living and that pop culture isn't really anything more than one, big ad. But the modern pervasiveness of it all has to have some negative effect on, I don't know, our humanity. Doesn't it?
Anyway. That's my not really well thought out rant of the day. Maybe I'll make "Not Really Well Thought Out Rant of the Day" a semi-regular feature around here.
