Let's Have a Constructive Summer

I included all five days that wrap Memorial Day Weekend this week. I also highlighed all of the dates in RED because I thought things were getting a little hard to read. These are the things I do for you.

Ease into the weekend tonight with the free Sound Waves show featuring Tara Dente, Two Strike Mark and Hollow-Eyed at Asbury Park Yacht Club.

Things ramp up on Friday when Minneapolis punks Banner Pilot pull into Asbury Lanes with support from Bayonne punk vets The Scandals. BaBabes play for free at Asbury Park Yacht Club. Atomic Bitchwax, The Battery Electric, Chrome Daddy, and Frankenstein 3000 highlight the Main Man Records Spring Fling at The Brighton. Langosta Lounge features a free, not-so-secret set from Nicole Atkins.

I've been looking forward to Saturday for some time as CoolMom will be joining me for the return of Titus Andronicus to Asbury Park. Finally, my favorite band will take the stage at one of my favorite venues when Titus Andronicus play Asbury Lanes with help from psychedelic shoegazers Baked. It looks like there may still be tickets available for this one, so maybe we'll see you there.

Otherwise, Saturday also features The Murder Junkies at The Brighton and local favorites Cranston Dean, Mad Feather Group, Chris Rockwell and The Stickball Social Club, and The Shady Street Show Band ringing in summer's unofficial arrival at The Wonder Bar.

Sunday finds Asbury hardcore punks Hot Blood doing double duty, supporting The Murder Junkies at Dingbatz in Clifton and then coming home to The Wonder Loft for a show with The Nearly Deads, City of the Weak, The Mischief Kids, and Little Dickman labelmates T.V. Tramps.

After your Monday barbecue, you can head over to Asbury Lanes for Old Gray and Frameworks or spring for John Legend at The Basie. The Wonder Bar has a Memorial Day edition of the always free Happy Mondays featuring Karmic Juggernaut, Swift Technique, Mammal Dap, and From The Ground.
