Screaming Females Have a New Album Coming, Rose Mountain!

We got this news earlier today via Pitchfork, and it will be on all the big music blogs as the day progresses. As I've tried to settle on a direction for the blog (How am I doing, by the way?), I've generally tried to avoid just repeating the news that you can get from any number of other sources out there. There are no hard and fast rules around here, though; and I do enjoy calling your attention to things that get me genuinely excited.

A new album and a new single from New Brunswick's Screaming Females are a couple of those things. I love this band, a feeling that was only solidified by their performance over the weekend at Asbury Lanes. For a band that definitely deal in some dark and aggressive sounds, they have this power to fill every fiber of my being with something I can only describe as pure joy, especially during a live set.

Anyway, the record's called Rose Mountain. It's being put out by our friends at Don Giovanni records on February 24th. The band have even shared the lead single, "Ripe;" and it is unsurprisingly awe inspiring.
