I've been waiting for this weekend for some time. The cooldaughters are off Friday and Monday which means I get so sleep in just a little bit later on both days. Friday night is the Vinyl Heart release at Asbury Lanes, and I get to celebrate Valentine's Day with the wonderful CoolMom.
Things get started on Thursday night when Howell's Grand Mariner head to New Brunswick's Circuit City for a show with Thin Lips, Sojourner, and Eagle Daddy. Groundskeeper are at The Court with Matty Carlock, Sun Abduction, and Between The Vertebrae. WRAT will hold the final of their band search at The Stone Pony with Those Mockingbirds, Paris Under Fire, and Prehistoric Forest.
On Friday night, New Brunswick's Bomb Shelter hosts the Bomb Prom featuring Professor Caveman, ROMP, Puppy, and Wrestling Moves. Dress up. Titus Andronicus are back for a free Brooklyn Night Bazaar show. The Court Tavern hosts The Power, Bobby Mahoney and The Seventh Son, Ian Bamberger Trio, Bryan Hansen Band, and The Smoke and Mirrors Peepshow. Black Flamingos play Langosta for free with Inside Drivers. Lost Romance hit Lucky 7's in Jersey City with Nikki Sue & The Bad News and Shayfer James. Brittney on Fire presents Map of Rome, Morningside Lane, Little Rose, and Fireside Chat at Rahway's Rail House. Monterey hit The Saint with No More Pain, Mind Riot, and Colton Kayser. Tony Tedesco is at The Pony. Hot Blood trek up to Newark for an early evening show with Kill Matilda, Sunny Gang, Policemen In Pickups (not to be confused with Cops In Tanks), and Garbage Brain.
Friday is also the big release for the Vinyl Heart compilation featuring Smalltalk, Dentist, Seaside Caves, and Trans Charger Metropolis at Asbury Lanes. CoolDad Music is a proud sponsor of this event, and I'll be there with CoolMom. It's going to be a night of music from four of my favorite local bands, and you'll be able to pick up the heart-shaped vinyl compilation at the show.
Saturday -- Valentine's Day -- brings Congress, Future Games, Bird Hotel, Eagle Daddy, and Tango Machina to Court Tavern. Teenage Halloween are back at Montclair's Meatlocker with Osaka and The Great Depression. Mad Feather Group hold their record release show at Wonder Bar with The Shady Street Show Band, Accidental Seabirds, The Porchistas, and super group Feathers In The Shade.
It's a holiday weekend, so you can go catch our buds in Paper Streets who head to The Meatlocker to play with Fight The Fade, Sink In, Archie Alone, and Dutch Boys on Sunday night. Legendary British guitarist, Albert Lee plays The Saint.
