"better" / "doctor"
Our friends dollys just released another free pair of singles via their Bandcamp. The band tracked "better" / "doctor" at Lakehouse Recording Studios in Asbury Park with Tim Panella and bassist / engineer Erik Kase Romero. Steve Voelker and Joe Gullace give things an extra flourish by providing horns.
Both tracks have been popping up in dollys live sets for a while now and take the band's sound further into the territory of intricate, retro pop. There's a pining, unrequited love theme in both songs with drummer / vocalist Natalie Newbold singing, "I wasted all my days just to see you" on "better" and, "I haven't heard from you in weeks. My phone won't ring. It only weeps" as she begs for another appointment with her "doctor."
Like dollys' last surprise release, "better" / "doctor" is available as a Name Your Price download from Bandcamp. For $10, dollys will throw in a T-shirt.
