Summer's In The Home Stretch

It's strange, but doing these listings makes time feel like it's going by really quickly. Taking everything in one-week increments and all. The cooldaughters finish up with summer camp this week. I head back to the dayjob on Monday. School is just around the corner. We still have lots of shows to check out, though.

90.5 The Night continue their free Thursday night Songwriters on the Beach series in Belmar with Chadwick Stokes and Arlen Feiles. Also on Thursday, The Sidekicks, All Dogs, Year of Glad, and Seaside Caves hit Asbury Lanes. This Charming Bakery executes another vegan takeover of Snackworld. Expect a CoolMom sighting at that one. Wild Adriatic are at Wonder Bar with The Cold Seas and Wyland.

On Friday, The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die come to Asbury Lanes with Pianos Become The Teeth, Turnover, and Take One Car. The Dopeness in Jersey City hosts Cryptkeeper Five, The Vansaders, The Paper Jets, and Steve Burks. Deff-Ray hold their CD release at The Saint with Paris Under Fire, Chris Rockwell, and Kiirstin Marilyn. The Under the Sun Tour returns to the Summer Stage with Sugar Ray, Better Than Ezra, Uncle Kracker, and Eve 6. Sophistafunk, Swift Technique, Quincy Mumford, and Mad Feather Group are at Wonder Bar. Black Flamingos are in Highlands at The Claddagh.

Taking Back Sunday's John Nolan comes to Asbury Lanes on Saturday with Modern Chemistry and howwemakemistakes. Our friends in Smalltalk play a free show at APYC. Slingshot Dakota, The Afraid Brigade, Teenage Halloween, Coolshark, and Bannister are at Maxwell's Tavern in Hoboken. Loudon Wainwright is at The Paramount. The Vansaders hold the release for their upcoming Jumping at Shadows EP inside the Pony right before Social Distortion play Social Distortion in its entirety outside on the Summer Stage. Nikki Lane and Drag The River open up outside, while Morningside Lane play a late set inside after the show. Black Flamingos (More on those guys later today...) head to Roxy and Duke's for the Rockabilly Rally with Rumble, Dr. Void & The Death Machines, Screamin' Rebel Angels, and The Razorbacks.

On Sunday, that big warehouse on Monroe Avenue in Asbury hosts an all-day concert featuring the likes of Hot Blood, The Ribeye Brothers, gods, Wreaths, Von Mons, and more. Our friends in Lowlight head up to the city for a show at Piano's with Paper Jets, Sister Taxa, and Beastie Vee. Deal Casino play APYC for free.

Finally, Sunday also brings of Montreal to Asbury Lanes. The experimental psych rockers bring Mothers along for the ride for what promises to be one of the biggest shows of the summer at the venue.
