What's Going On: 11/12, 11/13, 11/14 & 11/15, 2015

This weekend is jam-packed and even includes a very cool show presented by yours truly. The CDs will be having some sleepover fun with their cousin this weekend, so CoolMom and I will be out on the town together for a change.

Things get started on Thursday night when Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens returns to Langosta Lounge. Our buds The Black Flamingos head to the Morris Museum in Morristown to play "Bourbon & Beers II," which sounds pretty interesting. Minus The Bear headline the Pony and are joined by Murder By Death and Aero Flynn. Toadies come to Wonder Bar for a pared down set. Joining them are In The Whale and Accidental Seabirds.

Friday is bursting with shows. Mannequin Pussy, Ben Katzman's Degreaser, Sad Lips, Reflowered Girlz, and the absolutely tireless Dentist play AK-47 in Deal. The Brighton has Band Droidz, Gravity Well, and Bombshell Renegades. The Citizen (formerly The Dopeness) in Jersey City opens with a show from Wyland, dollys, and Adhesive Daisy. The Court hosts a double release show as Bodega Satellite and Matt Cook 75 both unleash new records. They're joined by Horseman Pass By, The Clydes, and Bryan Hansen Band. ROMP are in Bruns at DOPÉ with Milkmen, Morus Alba, and LKFFCT. YJY return to our neck of the woods with a show at Grindhouse in Long Branch with Rewind The Crisis, Lunch Ladies, The Subcultures, and Sound Buddy. You can watch Steven Speilberg's E.T. on the big screen at Asbury's Paramount for free.

Also on Friday, CoolDad Music presents Seaside Caves, Overlake, and Dead Stars for free at Asbury Park Yacht Club. You know Chunksaah recording artist Seaside Caves and their dark, brooding, "neu wave." We've had Overlake at our 2014 holiday show and this summer at the carousel to blow your minds with their take on shoegaze. I've wanted to get Dead Stars to Asbury Park for a long time. Their 90s-inspired fuzz rock is right in my wheelhouse, and I know you'll love it. You've got lots of choices on Friday, but trust me. This one is a can't miss.

Once you've slept off Friday, you can get out for Saturday. Mustard Plug, Backyard Superheroes, Teenage Halloween, and The Mega Yeah hit Brighton Bar. The Saint hosts punk / post-punk tribute bands The Street Walkin' Cheetahs, Straight To Hell, Disorder, and Rockaway Bitch. You can figure out who's doing who. Deal Casino head to Starland to open for Nate Ruess and Surfer Blood. Dark City presents a rock and roll food drive at Wonder Bar with dollys, Airacuda, Western Star, The Soul Compound, and Ian Bamberger.

On Sunday, the Deal Casino boys are at Knitting Factory Brooklyn with Quiet Company and Bellechord. Court Tavern has its monthly Soft Sounds showcase with Renee Maskin, Liv Lombardi, and many more. The Idjits, Jake Squilby Band, Flammable Animals, and The Ramparts Rebel play The Saint.

That is a full slate of shows for the weekend. I hope to see you on Friday at APYC; but, wherever you end up, have a blast.
