Getting Packed
It's a pretty exciting weekend here as I'm starting to get prepped for my first-ever trip to Austin for South By Southwest next week. Lots and lots of our friends like Dentist, Psychiatric Metaphors, The Off White, T.V. Tramps, Lost In Society, Overlake, The Everymen, Sharkmuffin, Darkwing, Dead Stars, Little Dickman Records, Don Giovanni Records, and more will be heading down that way, too. It should be one, big, overwhelming, and all-consuming party. I hope I survive. Before all that craziness, though, there are plenty of things to do close to home this weekend.
Starting on Thursday night, a few Little Dickman artists move to take over Philly when Dentist hit Bourbon & Branch with Thief, Steal Me A Peach, Cavewomen and The Bigness and The Off White join Psychiatric Metaphors, Dulls, and Motherwhore at Tralfamadore. In New Brunswick, In The West Hosts El Americano, Painted Zeros, Izzy True, and Winnebago. Jersey Rock has another installment of their free Winter Beach Crawl series at Brick's River Rock with 18th & Addison, Wicked Hollow, Gravity Well, and Ropetree.
On Friday night, ROMP play the first of two weekend record release shows for Departure from Venus when they hit New Brunswick's Beat Shmerb with American Lions, Hurry, and Toy Cars. Paper Streets are at Brooklyn's Gateway with Eagle Daddy, Professor Caveman, Blasteroid, and Brittany Costa. Quincy Mumford and The Reason Why play Langosta. Electric Arms and Barr Barians are at APYC. Dentist are still within striking distance of NJ as their tour brings them to Wilmington, DE's Oddity Bar for Surf Night with The Primitive Finks and our buds Black Flamingos. The Citizen in Jersey City has Debra Devi, Above The Moon, and Pepperwine.
Newark's Index Arts Center hosts The Hairs, Kult Of Mary, Boy vs Ghost, and Winnebago on Saturday. The Duskwhales, Fiscal Cliff, The Vaughns, and The Big Drops play New Brunswick's Kremlin. Savage Hearts and The Milwaukees are at Porta JC. Wild Adriatic, Deaf Rhino, and Downstream take over The Saint. Starland hosts Brian Fallon & The Crowes after Fallon plays an in-store at Vintage Vinyl earlier in the day. Tiger Army hit The Stone Pony.
ROMP are in Brooklyn with Hey Anna, Comfy, and Swoon Lake on Sunday at Alphaville. Freehold's Fun While You Wait play The Meatlocker in Montclair with Skip Monday, Like-Minded, and The Gray Company. The Saint has a free show featuring Dan Apy, Legend, and Jeff Shadows. It's Wonder Jam at Wonder Bar.
