New Single From Kino Kimino

"Rosy Rudiger"

My friend and fellow cooldad, Joe, has been talking up Kino Kimino to me for a while now. He went to their Mercury Lounge show last week and came back raving about them. The project is the brainchild of Kim Talon. For her first album as Kino Kimino, Talon collaborated with Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth along with producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Dinosaur Jr., Hop Along). The result is Bait Is For Sissies, which Kino Kimino announced today they will release via Nathan Williams's (Wavves) Ghost Ramp label on June 3rd.

Single "Rosy Rudiger" starts almost sweetly, Talon singing over jangly guitar, before expanding into something bigger. The jangle gives way to the distortion and sonic experimentation you might expect given the names associated with the album. As for the video, it's a less-than-expert how-to on how to apply brick-patterned contact paper to a real brick wall.

Kino Kimino head out on tour later this month, winding through the UK and midwestern US before bringing things back to Brooklyn for a show at Shea Stadium on July 3rd. Joe and I may have to hit up that one. It's nice having another cooldad to help me figure out what's cool.

Check out the video for "Rosy Rudiger" below. Bait Is For Sissies is available for pre-order on iTunes.
