New Video from Brooklyn's Sheen Marina

"Found a Sparkle"

Sheen Marina are an experimental four-piece from Brooklyn. They released their EP, Coda Arms, back in February. It's an angular collection of weird combinations -- punk, surf, jazz, math rock -- that's really hard to classify. I guess you could call it "noise rock," but that does Sheen Marina a bit of a disservice. It sounds like there is a plan and a method to everything they do.

You can see and hear for yourself in the video for Coda Arms track, "Found a Sparkle," which the band released today. When I first got this one, I wasn't sure what I thought; but a few seconds in, it started to grab me. What starts off sounding like it could be a study in noise and discordance quickly tightens up into a short, disciplined, yet quirky jam.

Check out the video for "Found a Sparkle" below.

Coda Arms is available via Sheen Marina's Bandcamp, and they play Brooklyn's Gateway this Sunday, May 15th, as part of a bill that also includes Blasteroid, Cult Vacation, and Top Nachos.
