Jersey City's Sean Kiely Releasing Remix EP

Exclamation Points All Over

Almost a year ago, I reviewed Jersey City singer / songwriter Sean Kiely's Your Logo, My Logo. I called it "an excellent 21st century folk album" for the way it seamlessly wove consumerism and ideas like personal branding into its songs. On the LP, those songs are delivered in pretty traditional singer / songwriter style, showcasing Kiely's lyrics and guitar playing.

This Friday, Kiely will release a selection of remixes from that record. Cavedoll, The Fancy Colors, The Ladies of Sport, Pat Van Dyke, and Sean0Sean himself each give their take on YLML tracks. The re-workings take the tracks out of the realm of, say, Fleet Foxes and push them towards something like, maybe, Animal Collective.

We have an example for you today with the premiere of "Me & My Bros (Sean0Sean Remix)." The contemplative yet cuttingly funny song is transformed into a world music-influenced, upbeat dance track.

Kiely celebrates the release of Exclamation Points All Over this Friday, June 17th, with a full-band show at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. And you can head over to Kiely's Bandcamp to stream the rest of the tracks.
