Back in March, New York's High Waisted put out what has, so far, been my most-listened-to album of 2016. Just this past holiday weekend as a matter of fact, I had On Ludlow on repeat as I vacuumed the pool, tooled around in the minivan running errands, and drove with CoolMom after our anniversary dinner. I was beyond disappointed at having to miss the band's free outdoor show in Hoboken with BOYTOY last Thursday; and, since becoming obsessed with the record a couple of months ago, it's been my dream to bring High Waisted to our little music mecca by the shore.
Today, the band released the video for an On Ludlow stand-out, the very gratifying to sing along with "Shithead," and announced a summer tour that will bring them to Long Branch's Brighton Bar. Our friends at Aftermath Collective and Speak Into My Good Eye will be hosting that show on July 14th.
The video features High Waisted singer / songwriter / guitarist, Jessica Louise Dye, frolicking through the city and making it clear that she's fully recovered from the shitty relationship that inspired the song. Jono Bernstein and Logan Seaman directed Dye's creative vision with animation and illustrations provided by Abram Seaman and Abbey Ley, making for an upbeat and psychedelic clip.
High Waisted celebrate the release of "Shithead" tonight with a party at New York's Niagra. Check out the video along with the rest of the band's tour dates -- including their stop in Long Branch -- below.
