Festival Weekend

It is a weekend of festivals with Punk Rock Bowling making its first-ever trip to Asbury Park, Northside Festival returning to Brooklyn, and Local Legends Festival in Vernon, NJ. On top of that, there's the usual slate of shows. Plenty to keep you occupied if you can find a place to park.

On Thursday night, House of Independents hosts Tragedy: An All Metal Tribute to The Bee Gees and Beyond. That's always fun. The Great Depression play The Saint with Revolution, I Love You, Lunch Ladies, and Emily Grove. Hey Anna -- who always seem to play NJ when I'm in Brooklyn and Brooklyn when I'm in NJ -- are at Wonder Bar with Lowlight, Stone Cold Fox, and MACK. Rebelution kick off the Stone Pony Summer Stage Season.

The Battery Electric play a free show on Friday night at APYC with their buddies in Governess and Gangway! It's a party that happens after some Punk Rock Bowling events, but don't call it an afterparty. dollys play Asbury Park Night Bazaar with Lyons and Noice. YJY are in Trenton at Millhill Basement with When Particles Collide, Elissa Janelle Velveteen, and Real Rude Dude Girl. Local Legends Fest kicks off in Vernon and runs all weekend with way too many acts to list. There are two Punk Rock Bowling Eve Events: The Bronx hit The Pony stage with Night Birds, The Falcon, and Jon Caspi & The First Gun. Wonder Bar's got Mephiskapheles, Hub City Stompers, Moral Panic, and Suspect. The Feelies play a sold-out Rent Party show in Maplewood at The Woodland.

On Saturday, Worthless United and Nervous Triggers aren't holding a Punk Rock Bowling afterparty at APYC, but they are having a party that happens right after Descendents conclude their set. Ghost Camp celebrate the release of their latest album in New Brunswick at Delicious Mystery House with Secret Mountain, Basement Beers, Whiner, and Bucket. Half Waif, Fraternal Twin, Longbeard, Macula Dog, and Tender Cruncher play In The West in Bruns. Lowlight are at Metuchen's Old Franklin Schoolhouse with Community Center and Aaron Pollak. Ruth Ruth and Corrina, Corrina play with Vansaders Vansaders at The Saint following PRB's Day 1 main event. Day 1 of the festival on the Summer Stage includes Descendents, Dag Nasty, Subhumans, H2O, Lost In Society and more. That's followed by Mariachi El Bronx inside The Stone Pony with World Inferno Friendship Society and Morning Glory. You could also head over to Wonder Bar for The Virus, Blanks 77, and Pears. The Feeelies do it again -- sold out again -- in Maplewood.

It's Day 2 of Punk Rock Bowling on Sunday on the Summer Stage with Cock Sparrer, FLAG, Anti-Nowhere League, Agnostic Front, The Scandals, and more. Deal Casino are doing their weekly thing at APYC. The Saint has Community Center and Cold Weather Company.
