Premiere: New Single from All Those Ships

"Head Up"

All Those Ships is the solo project of Derry, NH singer / songwriter, Brandon MacNeil. On September 16th, MacNeil will self-release the project's sophomore LP, Meteorology for Runners. It comes 6 years after All Those Ships' first release and was funded, in part, through a Kickstarter campaign. All Those Ships combines folk, shoegaze, and pop with some unique experimentation; and the clear influence from bands like Neutral Milk Hotel and Deerhoof immediately caught my attention.

You can hear all of that at play on single "Head Up," the opening track on Meteorology for Runners. The song opens with percussion and accordion. When the guitar kicks in, things go from sparse to a wall of acoustic shoegaze. MacNeil mentions that he often utilizes live looping and some unconventional instruments when he performs live, and it's easy to visualize that when listening to "Head Up."

Check out "Head Up" right here. When you're done, you can head over to All Those Ships' Bandcamp page, where you should be able to download "Head Up" along with first single, "Broken Cassette," with an album pre-order.
