The North Jersey Indie Rock Festival

It's a big weekend of shows, so let's get right to it.

On Thursday night, Titus Andronicus kick off their tour with a sold-out show at Jersey City's Monty Hall. CDM contributor and bestie Allyson Dwyer will be giving a writing workshop, along with Cord Moreski, at Water Witch Coffee in Highlands. Tiffany comes to Wonder Bar.

Emily & Justin Bornemann of Dentist play a free set at The Asbury's Soundbooth Bar on Friday night. Von Mons and The Tide Bends play APYC. Wild Americans hold their record release at The Citizen in Jersey City. Also in Jersey City, Groove on Grove close out their season with The Foxfires, Kiwi, Pat Van Dyke, San Simon, and The Rock N Roll Hi-Fives. dollys kick off their own tour at Paradise: Lost in New Brunswick with help from Ghost Camp, David F. Bello, Teenage Halloween, and Whiner. Shut Up play their first gig at The Saint with The Filthy 3, BigButt, and Ashes To Oranges.

On Saturday The Vansaders, Dirty, and Renee Maskin play APYC. Keith Monacchio holds his CD release at Belmar Arts. It's Day One of the NJ Friends of Clearwater Festival at Brookdale Community College. Small Planet Radio hold their record release at Court Tavern with The Paper Jets, Beatrix Potter Band, Above The Moon, and Collective Man. Sleigh Bells come to House of Independents for a homecoming show of sorts for singer, Alexis Krauss. Lost Boy ? release Goose Wazoo on Little Dickman Records and State Capital Records at Shea Stadium in Brooklyn. The Battery Electric play an afternoon show at Wonder Bar with Stringbean and The Stalkers as part of the Danny Clinch / RC Hagans mural project. The evening brings Scott Sharrard and Shady Street Show Band to Wonder Bar.

Also on Saturday, it's the first North Jersey Indie Rock Festival at Jersey City's Cathedral Hall from 12 noon to 8pm. Presented by Sniffling Indie Kids and Mint 400 Records, the fest takes place in a converted church and features dollys, Sink Tapes, YJY, The Clydes, Underlined Passages, C.R. and The Degenerates, NGHTCRWLRS, LKFFCT, and many, many more. There will also be food and drink vendors and members of the NJ music blogosphere like yours truly. Should be a fantastic event.

On Sunday, Hub City Sounds happens in New Brunswick's Boyd Park. That features The Band Called Fuse, Cold Weather Company, Experiment 34, Fun While You Wait, Backyard Superheroes, and more. Cymbals Eat Guitars return to Asbury Park with a show at The Saint that also features Empath and Corrina, Corrina.
