Woodbridge Township's Debt League will be back on November 28th with a new album called Akimbo. Today -- on their 2-year anniversary as a band no less! -- Debt League give us the latest single from that release in the form of "Tangled Head."
Of the song, singer / guitarist Brian Chesney says, "It's the song in most proud of writing. The lyrics deal with sorting out personal demons of anxiety. When writing the music, I was inspired by a Pretenders song I heard on the radio; and I wanted to include as many jazz influenced chords as possible as well as a key change."
In writing about the band's self-titled EP back in 2015, I mentioned getting kind of an 80s feel from the band's sound. That comes through on "Tangled Head," and the punk / new wave / rock combo that The Pretenders always did so well is certainly evident.
"Tangled Head" is available over at Debt League's Bandcamp page, and Akimbo is due one week from today. Debt League celebrate the album's release with a show at New Brunswick's Bomb Shelter on 12/2 that also features Old Hands, Lunch Ladies, and Hong Kong Graffiti.
