What's Going On: 11/17, 11/18, 11/19 & 11/20, 2016

Our good friends in Lowlight have a big night opening for The Pretenders on Thursday.

Almost Turkey

It's the week before Thanksgiving, and the bizarre 2016 is rapidly passing us by. You still have about 6 weeks to make some nice memories, though. You can start this weekend.

Things start off on Thursday night with Lowlight opening for Chrissy Hynde and The Pretenders at Red Bank's Count Basie. The Menzingers play a sold out show at Crossroads in Garwood with Toy Cars and Hot Knife. Free live band karaoke is back at House of Independents. Deal Casino's Joe P continues his Langosta residency. Carcass and Deafheaven are at the Pony.

Taylor Tote plays a big show at Asbury Hall on Friday night. Fun While You Wait, The Paper Jets, and Audible Soul hit APYC. Graveyard School, Jon Caspi, No Venom Radio, and Pep Rally play Brighton Bar in Long Branch. Overlake are spending the weekend with pioneer the eel starting on Friday at Clash Bar in Clifton. Samiam, Iron Chic, Ex Number Five, and Rocky & The Chapter play Crossroads. Chemtrail celebrate their 10th anniversary at House of Independents with help from The Black Clouds, Dentist, and Yawn Mower. TCNJ hosts Sorority Noise, Slaughter Beach, and Dog Weller. Kings X are at The Stone Pony.

On Saturday night, The Tide Bends hold their EP release party at APYC with Sun Voyager and Holiday. American Trappist is at Langosta. Colton Kayser makes his way back home from tour with Ragged Lines, steve., and Well Wisher at New Brunswick's J House. Overlake, pioneer the eel, Teeel, and Greg McGarvey play Trenton's MillHill. Rick Barry is back in NYC at Rockwood Music Hall. Black Wine play Pino's Gift Basket in Highland Park with Risk Relay and Secretary Legs. Stryper say To Hell with the Devil at The Pony.

On Sunday, Noise in the Attic hosts a benefit for 180 Turning Lives Around at The Inkwell in Long Branch featuring Emily Bornemann, Pepperwine, Avery Mandeville, and Natty Vibes. Yawn Mower head up to New Brunswick to play as part of an all two-piece bill at Scarlet Pub. That one also features Heavy Flow, Grover Dill, and Motor Heart Man.

Head out there and work off some steam before spending next Thursday arguing politics with your family.
