Back At It
Everyone is all rested up from the holidays, I hope. Things are back in full swing for the first full weekend of 2017. CoolMom leaves for another weeklong business trip this weekend, so I'm gonna do my best to squeeze stuff in before she goes.
Things get started on Thursday night when Secret Mountain and Coolshark kick off their tour at Aisle 3 in New Brunswick. Joining them are Glazer, Long Neck, and Pine Barrons. Little Dickman Records are wasting no time in getting back to bringing great music to Asbury with The Nude Party, Von Mons, and White Lighters playing a free show at APYC. Lowlight are at The Saint with Community Center and The Double Negatives. JoeP of Deal Casino continues his weekly residency at Langosta.
Aloha Fridays are back at Anchor's Bend this Friday with Black Flamingos and DJ Hi-Tide. Fruit & Flowers play Baby's All Right with other "Hardest Working Bands" THICK, Stuydeyed, Surfbort, RIPS, Decorum, and Sic Tic. Teenage Halloween and Lunch Ladies are at Montclair's Meatlocker with Whiner, Big Neil, and David F. Bello. SICK SHIT celebrate their first birthday at Millhill Basement with Bandit, Fluoride, Dad Party, Johnny Bentonamo, and Nacht. NO ICE play the long-awaited release party for their most recent LP at Shea Stadium with Sharkmuffin, THICK, and Milk Dick.
Saturday brings MACK back to APYC with Lauren Patti. The Barn in Red Bank hosts Have A Good Season, Teenage Halloween, dollys, Thin Lips, CorrinaCorrina, and Lunch Ladies. Lowlight, Cook Thugless, Raina Bee & The Hive, Original Text, and The Invisible College play Buddies in Parlin. The Court Tavern is in its final days of hosting original, live music for a while and has Mr. Payday, The Anderson Council, Coach N Commando, and The Brixton Riot. There's a benefit for those who are still sticking it out at Standing Rock at Jersey City's Funhouse with Crazy & The Brains, Black Wail, TV Tramps, The Rock N Roll Hi-Fives, and more. Dentist head up to Montclair's Meatlocker for their first show of the year with Tula Vera, LKFFCT, Electric Sensei, Jean Pool, and Carousers.
During the day on Saturday, Asbury Park's own Punk Rock Flea Market is back at Convention Hall. That same evening, The Stone Pony hosts a loaded after-party featuring Ruby The Hatchet, Hot Blood, Seaside Caves, and Sammy Kay.
After a big weekend, it's a relatively quiet Sunday. LOD 2017 kicks off with their annual "Cover Me" show at The Stone Pony featuring "NJ's Best Cover Bands."
