"Luv Luv Luv"

This Friday, February 3rd, tireless advocate for independent music and our good friend, Jim Testa, will release Testamonials (Songs I Wish I Wrote). Testa covers a set of mostly protest songs that are near and dear to his heart, even throwing in some of his own updated lyrics in places. He's assembled a band from The Mama Coco's Funky Kitchen All-Stars (Sam Braverman, Jamie Frey, Oliver Ignatius, Chadbourne Oliver) and The Harmonica Lewinskies Horns (Madeline Gioia, Chris Tull, Marco Sanchez). A cast of special guest stars includes Jack Tabby on viola, Foggy Otis on ukulele, and Tris McCall on electric piano and organ. All but one of the tracks were produced and engineered by Oliver Ignatius at MCFK.

Today, we're bringing you Testa's take on Pansy Division's 1998 "Luv Luv Luv." The song makes the case that our complex and romantic idea of "Love" is really just a dressed up version of humans' simple and most basic desires. While Testa's cover is relatively faithful to the bouncing and upbeat original; it does make the song even more of a raucous, saloon-style stomper.

Stream "Luv Luv Luv" below. Jim Testa will be releasing the full EP with a show this Friday, February 3rd, at The Gutter in Brooklyn. Testa joins a lineup on that one that also features No Ice / Noise Pop Poetry Babies and The Regrets.
