"Just Can't Get Enough"
I had the pleasure of finally experiencing SHEER MAG live just a few weeks ago at Paul's Tavern in the rock and roll capital of New Jersey, Lake Como. To me, the band epitomized the distinction between being punk and playing punk rock. SHEER MAG's sound is all blood, sweat, and blistering guitar solos. It's lifted from the rock and roll of another era -- the rock and roll that quickly became commoditized and commercialized and is now part of the package of what's sold to us as "Classic Rock." But SHEER MAG are pure punk, delivering their songs with an honesty and abandon that sweeps the crowd up with them. SHEER MAG infuse these sounds with a new life that has the hardcore kids bouncing along just as enthusiastically as old 70s babies like me.
After three lo-fi EPs that have since been packaged into a must-have compilation, SHEER MAG have announced their first proper full-length, Need to Feel Your Love, which is due from Wilsuns Recording Company on July 14th. They've also shared the first single from that LP in the form of "Just Can't Get Enough."
In keeping with their no-pretense approach to rock and roll, SHEER MAG say of the song, "'Just Can't Get Enough' is a straight up and down rock ballad about ACTUALLY being in love, which is something we don't often write about without being cynical in some way. Being away from the one you love is hard. This song speaks as if that feeling for that person is something as natural and powerful as a gravitational pull."

The band are playing a hometown show at Philly's First Unitarian Church this Saturday, May 13th. They'll be in Brooklyn, at House of Vans on July 12th. The rest of their tour dates are listed right down there, just after the song...
