Fall Festival Season |
Equinox
Fall officially arrives tomorrow at 4:02pm EDT. With it come a pair of pretty cool festivals, another trip for CoolMom, and lots of good shows.
On Thursday night, Good Luck Spaceman are at Brighton Bar in Long Branch with Shy Shape, Fence, and R.P. Gio. Michale Graves and The Barrbarians are at The Saint. X play NYC at Stage 48.
Friday night sees the free kickoff party for this year's edition of Indian Summer Asbury Park with a s show at Anchor's Bend featuring Smalltalk and Sun Voyager. Have A Good Season, Small Talks (not Smalltalk), and Good Luck Spaceman play APMF. Interpol apparently announced a surprise Bowery Ballroom appearance last week that happens this Friday. It's sold out, and I'm sad. The Toasters return to Brighton Bar with Eastbourne, Just Six Hours, and Joker's Republic. Night Birds head up to Brooklyn Bazaar for a show with The Spits and Big Eyes. Quincy Mumford and The Reason Why play Langosta.
Indian Summer is in full swing at Anchor's Bend on Saturday with The Parlor Mob, Rye Coalition, Miss TK & The Revenge, and lots more. Asbury Park Brewery has Have A Good Season, The Vaughns, No Such Animals, and -- continuing their whirlwind Monmouth County tour -- Good Luck Spaceman. Interpol play their big tennis court show at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens with Deerhunter and Battles. Fruit & Flowers spend the evening at Rough Trade with Monogold, Pink Mexico, and Grim Streaker. Pixies hit Stone Pony's Summer Stage with Sunflower Bean. In the afternoon, the Danny Clinch Gallery at The Asbury has Colton Kayser, Tor Miller, and Bobby Mahoney.
Also on Saturday, it's the second installment of the North Jersey Indie Rock Festival at Cathedral Hall in Jersey City. It features a ton of bands, including great FOCDM's Dentist, The RockNRoll HiFives, Psychiatric Metaphors, Fruit & Flowers, The Brixton Riot, LKFFCT, Spowder, and many more. Lots of my blogger colleagues will be there to tell you about themselves, and several NJ labels like co-founders Sniffling Indie Kids and Mint 400 Records as well as Little Dickman Records, Killing Horse Records, and Bar / None will be there. It's a great day.
Indian Summer continues on Sunday with Band Of Changes, Thomas Wynn and The Believers, Lowlight, and more. Matt Dubrow, Modern Crowds, Phoebe Nix, Kevin Daly, and S0ul Food play the recurring Noise In The Attic benefit at The Inkwell in Long Branch. Silent Barn in Brooklyn hosts Big Bliss, BRNDA, Wet Mut, and Mean Siders.
Hope your summer was great. Enjoy the fall. See you out there.
