"Black Moon"

Last week, New Brunswick, NJ 3-piece rock and roll band / group of super awesome human beings, Screaming Females, released their first new music since 2015's Rose Mountain in the form of a very very limited (just 24 copies) 7" available only at their hometown Spina Records.

I thought I'd missed out on grabbing my copy of "Black Moon," but intrepid CoolDad Music contributor, interviewer, dude with a beard, Matt Chrystal, made a trip to the record store and snagged me one. Matt and I haven't physically crossed paths yet, so I still hadn't heard "Black Moon." Until this morning that is.

Screaming Females released "Black Moon" digitally today; and the song is a jagged, heavy, and thundering four minutes about, according to the band, the earth's break-up with humanity. Like much of Rose Mountain, "Black Moon" mixes elements of punk, pop, and even metal into something that's simultaneously aggressive and accessible.



Screaming Females will also be kicking off a national tour with Street Eaters next week that includes a stop at Johnny Brenda's in Philly on 9/28. You can check out the rest of the (so far, non-NJ / NY) dates below.
