"Motel Chronicles" |
Saturday Movies
I remember when we first got cable back in the days of that loud, clacky, analog cable box. The big videos on MTV around the time were Greg Kihn's "Jeopardy," The Police's "Every Breath You Take," Scandal's "The Warrior," stuff like that. When nothing else was on TV, it was always cool to switch to MTV and just watch videos. Those days are gone, but now we have YouTube.
I do love music videos. As a blogger, it's always nice when there's a video to go along with a song you're gonna share. And, all of the artistic energy it takes to combine music and images and filmmaking has always amazed me. I've tried my hand at a couple of videos, but none of those hold a candle to things done by real pros or people more creative than I am.
Today, I'm sharing a few of the videos that I really enjoyed from the past year. There are tons of other great high-, low-, and everything-in-between-budget ones out there that I still haven't seen; and you can feel free to point me to those. This list happens to contain several by friends of the site or bands I've listened to a lot this year. I had the honor of premiering several of the clips, which is always cool.
So, here are some of my favorites presented in roughly chronological order. Have a look at these and let me know which ones were your personal favorites from 2017.
Big Bliss, "High Ideal"
The RockNRoll HiFives, "(You Got Me) Tongue Tied"
Lowlight, "Motel Chronicles"
Fruit & Flowers, "Subway Surfer"
A Giant Dog, "Bendover"
Sharkmuffin, "Factory"
Deal Casino, "My Gun"
Damfino, "Visit to the Women's Planet"
Wetbrain, "Pirouettes"
Avery Mandeville, "Blood"
Japanese Breakfast, "The Body Is a Blade"
