New Single from Manchester, England's A Band Called Jack

"Voices"

On first listen to A Band Called Jack's new single, "Voices," you can hear a lead vocal and an arrangement that recalls Lee Mayers and The Las, some jangly guitar work that sounds like a sitar and a bit like The Kinks on "See My Friends," and songwriting chops and power not unlike the best of their fellow Manchester natives, Oasis.

But there's a lot more going on, and A Band Called Jack not only embrace these influences but also create a sound all of their own. A Band Called Jack are Mark Caldwell on vocals,  Matthew Brookes on rhythm guitar, Aidy Whyatt on lead guitar, and Neil Armstrong on bass.

"'Voices' is a song that tackles bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, which are topics and illnesses we take seriously as it's touched us -- as we are sure it has many others," explains Brookes.

"Can't stop the voices in your head," sings Caldwell; and the song contains terrific musical elements that illustrate contrasting moods.

A Band Called Jack are currently working on their long-awaited debut album.
