Paul Wilbert Powell

A Friend of Ours Lost Someone

If you've been to a show in Asbury Park any time during the last... ...I don't know... ...long time, you've probably met Bob Powell. He's a tireless supporter of local music, and he used to get an actual glass for his beer at Asbury Lanes. Bob's a friend of mine and is often the guy I swap stories with at shows. He lost his dad, Paul Wilbert Powell, on Monday.

You can read Paul Wilbert Powell's obituary here. He leaves three children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren and served our country through two tours of combat in Viet Nam. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 31, at the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 1, at 9:30 AM at the Ely Funeral Home followed by a private internment at the General William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

I'm personally very sorry for Bob's loss. If you see him at a show, which you will, maybe buy him a beer and toast his dad's 83 years.
